WITHDRAWS FROM BOE RACE

Friday, August 15
Townsend's withdrawal will cost the city to reprogram the voting machines to invalidate any vote for him on the August 26 ballot. However, the withdrawal ensures there will be no Board of Education runoff election, thus saving the potential expense. One of the two remaining candidates, Beth McAlpine or Kyle Rushing will be elected to fill the board member position now held by Mark Butler.
